Agnes Sandvik will start working on her Master Thesis for one year in our lab (2024-2025) as part of Master’s in biology organised by the Department of Biological Sciences (BIO).
Agnes will work with Lucas Unger under the supervision of Luiza Ghila and Heidrun Vethe to reprogram fibroblasts from T1D sibling donors in order to establish a cell model of diabetes. She will further differentiate the generated cell lines into islet-like structures called SC-islets.
Agnes be trained in cellular and molecular biology techniques, including cell cultures (fibroslast, iPSC colonies), reprogramming, cell transfection, immunofluorescence staining, large-scale imaging (dragonfly) and confocal microscopy, image analysis (Imaris), genotyping (PCR), RNA sequencing and pathway analysis (IPA).
