Shayla Sharmine has joined our research group as a new PhD candidate. Welcome, Shayla!
Shayla completed her Bachelor studies at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, in Bangladesh and her Master studies at University of Bergen. Her Master project was conducted at the section for Cancer genomics at the Haukeland University Hospital, focused on finding predictive biomarkers in a Phase 1b/2 clinical trial using liquid biopsy in metastatic melanoma patients. She has experience with primary cell cultures as well as advanced molecular biology methods as isolation of circulating cell-free DNA, digital droplet PCR, RNA sequencing, analyzing whole-exome sequencing tumor mutation profile, and fluorescence microscopy.
Shayla will focus the molecular mechanisms involved in cell fate determination and maintenance of somatostatin-producing delta cell population.
