Young Investigator Mentor: IPITA Precongress Workshop

The 17th World Congress of the International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association was held on 2-5 July 2019 in Lyon, France; gathering nearly 350 attendees from  over 30 countries to discuss the latest developments in pancreatic beta cell replacement to treat type 1 diabetes.

The meeting began with IPITA YIC precongress workshop, divided into 3 parallel streams. http://www.ipita2019.org/young-investigators focused on advances in pancreas and islet transplantation, artificial pancreas, stem cell derived beta cells, xeno-islets and blastocyst complementation to generate human organs in animal hosts.

I was invited to give a talk on islet cell fate in diabetes and for 2 Q&A sessions of small group discussions on islet regenerative mechanisms and future avenues in the Stream 3 – Discussions in cutting edge advances in islet and pancreas transplantation.
